Women of Fibre
I n t r o d u c t i o n

This website highlights knitting I have done in the last five years. It draws on many traditions and skills that I have learned from generations of women in my family whom I have come to think of as Women of Fibre.

I am Lynne Johnson. I grew up in Australia in a time when it was very normal for girls to learn to knit, to crochet and to sew. We were taught by our mothers, our grandmothers, our aunts, our friends. We watched, listened and later joined in as they talked, shared patterns, swapped gossip.

More recently my knitting has been influenced and encouraged by my contemporaries and by my daughter and daughter in law and their friends - the next generation of Women of Fibre.
